Pibes Chorros - El Prisionero

Los Pibes Chorros is a band from Argentina, performing since late 90´s. They became extremely popular in the lowest classes of the argentine society. They sing about robbery, crime, sex and drugs abuse becoming the most representative key of the genre called Cumbia Villera ( the literal translation of Pibes Chorros means “The Thieving Kids”). Their music shows evident cumbia roots mixed with dub and reggae sounds, performed in a very unique way. This song is called “El Prisionero” and talks about a thief who goes to jail for robbery and still in love with his girlfriend living in “ la villa” (Shantytowns or Fabelas in Brazil). The message is double because he clearly talking about his addiction to cocaine and how he is "prisoner" because of the white substance.
